Public access to Yates Creek will end Nov. 30

It appears that the public’s access to the boat ramp at Yates Creek will soon come to an end, after the Taylor County Commission voted this week to end negotiations with the property owners over a new lease agreement and to instead let the existing lease expire.

According to County Administrator LaWanda Pemberton, the current lease was extended to the end of November to allow additional time for negotiations, so public access to the popular Gulf of Mexico boat launching point should remain open until that time.
