As the United States reports a 40% increase in positive COVID-19 test results, Taylor County is maintaining an average of approximately four new positive cases per day.
Taylor County has only reported 54 new coronavirus cases in the past two weeks, totaling 1,459 cases since April 1.
In the seven months since the first local positive case was reported, a total of 60 Taylor Countians have been hospitalized as a result of COVID-19, and 16 of those who previously tested positive have died.
According to Johns Hopkins University, which is utilized by the Florida Department of Health (DOH), more than 8.7 million people in the United States have been infected with the coronavirus, and at least 225,817 have died as of press time Tuesday.
Over the past week, there have been an average of 75,554 cases reported in the United States per day, an increase of 40 percent from the national average two weeks earlier.
