    No razor fundraiser

    Posted on October 30, 2020

Perry Police Department (PPD) Chief of Police Jamie Cruse will be waiving the department’s prohibition against facial hair for officers in an effort to raise “much needed funds” for local charities.

The “No Razor Fundraiser” will begin on Nov. 1 and allows PPD members to grow a beard until Jan. 4, 2021, in exchange for a $50 donation to the PPD fundraiser account.

Businesses and individuals can support this effort to raise charitable monies by sponsoring a PPD member’s beard.

PPD members who are sponsored for an additional $50 (totaling $100 in the PPD fundraiser account) will be allowed to grow their beards until March 1, 2021.

A beard-judging is tentatively scheduled to take place in March.

Traditional full beards, goatees, extended goatees, circle beards and soul patches are acceptable, but mutton chop-style beards are prohibited.

Cruse’s “No Razor Fundraiser” rules stipulate that facial hair must be maintained neatly, keeping the neck area shaven.

No beard braiding or designs cut into the beard will be permitted.

All donations will benefit local charities, such as “Shop with a Cop” and the Special Olympics. Donations can be made to Lavonne at the PPD, and a receipt will be provided upon request.

The PPD is located at 211 S. Washington Street in Perry.
