    Posted on November 18, 2020

Betty Lou Hendry, 92, transitioned to Heaven Nov. 13, 2020.

She joined her husband, Herschel, and her parents, Elmer and Lucille Crouch, as well as her sisters, Marie Williams(Orville) and Beverly Beckett(Gardner/Howard) and a grandson, Tanner Hendry, in a great reunion.

She is survived by her three children, Joan Sessions-Rawlins; Griff and Faye (Brown) Hendry; and Todd Hendry.

She has six living grandchildren, Chad, Christopher, Samantha, Kevin, Kane and Misty.  She has 16 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She has a host of nieces and nephews that she loved like her own children.

She was raised in the Presbyterian Church in Perry beginning at the age of four. Church life was her favorite time of life according to her. She played the piano, sang and taught Sunday School as well as Vacation Bible School and assisted in the youth programs over the years.  She saw that her children were part of church life as well.

As a homemaker her entire life, she provided a loving, cozy, fun, life for her family and their friends. She was known as a “Southern belle,” serving any and all who came through her door.

She was also known for her chocolate fudge and sweet tea. She lived for basketball season and the Lakers, even in the latter months.

Her Home-going Celebration was held Sunday, Nov. 15, at the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel, which was the original First Presbyterian Church, the church she and subsequently her children were raised in.

Pallbearers were: Chad Agner, Christopher Sessions, Kane Hendry, Kevin Woodall, Ben Davis and Shane Carter.

Special contributions may be made in her name to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital at stjude.org.
