After seeking to amend its contract with the local state prison to add a provision that would reduce the amount city taxpayers pay if inmate work squads are not available, the City of Perry has recently learned the squads should once again be returning to work.
City Manager Taylor Brown first requested the council’s input on the subject at the city’s Sept. 22 meeting, stating he had received a call from a Florida Department of Corrections (FDOC) representative who asked if the city planned to renew its contract for outside inmate work squads.
