Mrs. Beverly June Denmark, 65, passed away on Nov. 24, 2020, at her home in Live Oak after a hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer.
Beverly was born Oct. 12, 1955, in Perry to Roscoe Cash and Wanda Tedder Cash.
She was the second youngest of five rambunctious siblings and together they helped their parents run the farm. There were always jobs and chores ready for the kids to take on including peas and peanuts to pick, corn to break and hogs to feed! It was here on the farm that Beverly met her one true love, Ronnie Denmark, a young teen boy looking for work with his brother, Mike.
Beverly and Ronnie started sitting together on the school bus and bonded over math homework. They developed a genuine friendship that eventually grew into a deep love for one another.
After three and a half years dating, Ronnie asked Papa Roscoe for Beverly’s hand, to which he responded, “It’s about time,” and they were married Aug. 10, 1974.
Beverly graduated from Taylor County High School in 1973 as one of the top 10 students in her class. While in school, she was quite the busy body, with many academic achievements – involving herself in the student council, national honor society, the math club, the oceanography club and was a part of the Homecoming court. She was the business manager of the annual staff and was chosen as a “Senior Favorite” for being the “Most Dependable” (which she most certainly was).
Beverly certainly knew what she wanted and was unafraid of taking the lead. When Ronnie’s return from Army training just so happened to land on prom night, she had the tux and corsage already laid out for him, ready to go – and off they went!
She went on to earn a bachelor’s in business administration from Florida State University (FSU). After working in banking for a few years at Citizen’s Bank in Perry, FSU Credit Union, and finally Asheville Federal Bank in North Carolina, she and her husband successfully built, owned and operated a poultry farm in Suwannee County which they named Sandy Pine Ranch.
For 29 years, they put their blood and sweat into providing people with healthy and delicious chicken! They were even selected as up-and-coming chicken farmers to go to Washington to represent the local poultry cooperative thanks to Beverly’s excellent oratory skills!
She was well-known among family and friends for her ability to write and speak words that carried weight and meaning. She often spoke at funerals and would write letters to loved ones left behind, offering warmth and comfort in a dark time. Beverly also provided invaluable advice to her daughter’s high school theatre group where she was known as “Mama Denmark” to all.
Just like her mother, Wanda, who passed earlier this year from COVID in the spring, books were a very important part of her life. Beverly was often found with her nose stuck in a book and could hardly be pulled away from the words before her. She would become oblivious to the chaos around her such as when her sister Diane passed by screaming for help on a runaway horse or even when the kitchen caught fire!
She loved to explore old bookstores and collect beautiful renditions of classic literature. She had her very own home library of well over 500 books.
She and Ronnie loved to travel and hike anywhere and everywhere. When they could escape the chicken farm for a moment, they took it (the kids too!).
They’ve had the pleasure of exploring places like the Grand Canyon, Arches National Park, Carlsbad Caverns, Mammoth Cave and so on and so on.
One of the highlights of their travels was a trip to Alaska with her parents in a small pop-up camper! There they got to pan for gold, walk out on one of the massive glaciers and lay eyes on Mt. McKinley, the tallest mountain in North America.
But they’re favorite place to adventure was the Blueridge Parkway in North Carolina. She and Ronnie loved to simply drive through the mountains and enjoy the views and see what came around each bend in the road.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, Roscoe and Wanda Cash, and her big brother, Darrell Cash.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, James Ronald “Ronnie” Denmark, and two children, Andy and Autumn Denmark.
She leaves behind a brother, Ronald “Curly” Cash, and two sisters, Diane (Charles) Carlton and Barbara (Tom) Baumgardner, as well as a whole host of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Sunday, Dec. 6, at Carlton Cemetery at 2 p.m. Masks will be required as well as social distancing.
All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
