Less than a week after Warner Bros. announced that it would release all of its 2021 films simultaneously in theaters and on its HBO Max streaming service, potentially hammering the final nail in the coffin of the movie theater industry, Disney held its much-anticipated investors meeting, during which it may have provided a much-needed shot in the arm of movie theaters everywhere.
As I said last week, reasonable people can disagree about whether the decision made by Warner Bros. was a good one or not. However, the fact that the studio did not consult any of the talent involved or its producing partners is continuing to send waves throughout Hollywood.
