    AARP offers tax aide

    Posted on January 22, 2021

AARP Tax-Aide will begin accepting tax documents from taxpayers starting Feb. 15, 2021, at the Taylor County Extension Office.

Everyone must wear a face mask.

Everyone must maintain a six-foot distance between each other.

Only the taxpayer or the taxpayer and his/her spouse will be allowed to sit with the tax-aide volunteer. All others must stay in their vehicle.

    This is a low-contact service.

All taxpayers must have a Social Security card, a photo ID and a phone with a working number where we can contact you or we will not be able to file your taxes.

You will receive an envelope with a form that you will fill out in your vehicle. Once it is complete you will meet with a tax-aide volunteer to review you documents.

At this time you will sign a form giving AARP Tax- Aide permission to keep your tax documents and prepare your taxes for you. Once your taxes are ready to be filed, you will receive a call and given a date and time when to come back to review and sign forms to allow AARP Tax-Aide to file your tax return.

Dates and times to bring tax documents include:

    • Every Monday, beginning February 15- April 10, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

    • Every Saturday, beginning February 20-April 12, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

These dates could change without notice during these uncertain times.

The AARP Tax-Aide local coordinator is Belinda Wright.
