    City sinks $17,000 into Center St.

    An apparent sinkhole in the middle of a Rosehead Park walking path threatens the stability of nearby Center Street, prompting the City of Perry to hire an environmental and geotechnical firm to investigate the cause and extent of the problem.

    The City of Perry has agreed to pay an environmental engineering firm $17,000 to diagnose the cause and extent of erosion problems at Rosehead Park near Center Street in downtown Perry.

    An apparent sinkhole near a Rosehead Park walking path has caused the city to close a nearby section of Center Street and diverted traffic to an already-busy parallel section of Jefferson Street running through the heart of the city since early January.
