Over the past 15 years the City of Perry’s unrestricted cash reserves have dwindled from an estimated $16-17 million down to less than $6.5 million — not including $2.3 million or more expected to be needed in the current budget
year.
The city council voted to pull approximately $90,000 from its cash reserves last year in order to balance a budget shortfall — even after raising property taxes (2.2%) and increasing utility fees.
