Howell hangs up his hardhat

With his retirement package in hand, Vance Howell turned in his Georgia-Pacific ID badge and drove out the gates of the Foley Cellulose Mill for the last time five months ago — leaving four decades of employment in his rearview mirror.

While the Foley Cellulose Mill changed ownership three times over the past 40 years, transitioning from a private business partnership to a publicly-traded company, Howell is one thing that has remained constant.
