Gas Plant Road bids over budget

The Taylor County Commission received two bids from construction firms to widen and resurface one mile of Gas Plant Road, however both came in well above the available state funding, forcing county staff to seek additional money from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).

The shortfall in the FDOT-funded project was expected, as County Engineer Kenneth Dudley warned the commission before the bid solicitation was advertised that he was “confident” the remaining funding would be insufficient.
