    Posted on July 16, 2021

The Taylor County Republicans will meet Tuesday, July 20, at the Swann Venue (located at 210 Washington Street), starting at 6 p.m.

Randolph G. Russell, author of “American History in No Time,” will be the special guest speaker.

“As a people, we are losing the connection to our national heritage and our sense of patriotism,” Russell said.

    He cited the following data:

    · A study by the U.S. Department of Education found that only 12 percent of high school seniors were proficient in American history.

    · The Intercollegiate Studies Institute gave a similar test to college seniors at 50 institutions around the country, including Harvard and Yale. The average grade was an F.

    · A survey by the Freedom Forum Institute found that among the general public, the number of adults who can name the five freedoms guaranteed by the First Amendment is less than one percent.

“This is important to us as Republicans. Keeping the GOP the party with the best-informed members will attract others to join our ranks and influence them to vote with us. Knowing what made America great will help us preserve this ‘last best hope of earth’,” he said.

“Come and hear Russell tell us about his vision for Republicans and America. Please have your questions ready for him,” meeting organizers said.

The meeting is open to the public and dinner will be served.
