    Schools will hire two truant officers, focus on attendance

    Taylor County Primary School Principal Kelli Brannen told school board members Monday night that students in grades K-2 will have 120 minutes of uninterrupted reading every morning.

    The Taylor County School District will place a renewed focus on student reading skills and attendance when the doors open for the 2021-22 school year on Aug. 11.

    On Monday, principals from each school in the district shared plans on how to achieve those goals with members of the Taylor County School Board during a nearly three-hour workshop.
