Operation Christmas Child announces 2021 goal

    Posted on October 15, 2021

Local volunteers have announced a goal of collecting 2,461 shoeboxes for this year’s Operation Christmas Child.

“I want to thank everyone for packing shoeboxes during the COVID pandemic. Because of you not giving up but actually working harder, we exceeded our goal and collected 2,300 gift-filled shoeboxes last year to send to children around the world,” coordinator June Byers said.

“This year, our Perry goal is to collect 2,461 gift filled shoeboxes to send to children so that they will hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ,” she said.

Last year more than 9.1 million shoeboxes were collected from 11 countries and sent around the world.

This year’s goal is to collect enough shoebox gifts to reach an additional 9.7 million children with the Gospel message.

Each recipient also receives “The Greatest Gift” booklet with their shoebox and is invited to participate in “The Greatest Journey” 12-week study.

“Come join us in this mission to reach children around the world for Christ. Remember, each shoebox represents a child in another country that will hear the Gospel,” Byers said.

Shoeboxes will be collected the week of Nov. 15-22, and the local drop-off site will be located at Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church.
