    City giving staff $1,000 bonuses

    The Perry City Council will give all city employees a $1,000 bonus in appreciation of their service during the COVID-19 pandemic, voting 4-0 in favor of using American Rescue Plan Act funds recently received from the federal government.

    After first hearing a proposal from City Manager Taylor Brown that would have provided city workers 48 hours of paid time off — closing most city departments for the entire week of Thanksgiving and Christmas – the council debated several other options before ultimately deciding on the one-time bonuses.
