Ann Rawlings Bruner died on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2021, at the Good Samaritan Center in Dowling Park at the age of 95. Ann was born in Richmond, Va., on March 13, 1926, to William David Bruner and Mildred Macon Holladay Bruner.
She graduated from Titusville High School in Titusville and from Florida State College for Women in 1947, the last an all-women graduating class. She married Royce Agner in December 1947 and raised four daughters in Perry, bringing them up in St. James Episcopal Church. She taught school in Taylor County schools, was a member of the Perry Women’s Club and enjoyed fishing and crabbing along the Taylor County coast. She was an avid bridge player and quite competitive. She survived the “1993 Storm of the Century” at Cedar Island and after that disaster, she volunteered with the American Red Cross. She volunteered for many years all over the country. She is survived by: four daughters, Bettie Agner Page (Malcolm), Nancy Agner Bell (Bob), Margaret Agner Cooksey (Chris), all of Perry, and Carolyn Agner Quffa (Hanna) of Ramallah, Palestine.
She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Rebekah Bell (Chasity), William Bell, Alex Cooksey (Cassidy), Natalie Cooksey Lowers (Loren), Daniel Page, Costi Quffa (Catherine), Lieth Quffa (Cam Tu), Besan Quffa McKell (Rob) and Eiad Quffa. Ann is also survived by five great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Friday, Dec. 10, at 10 a.m. at St. James Episcopal Church, 1100 W. Green Street. The family will receive friends after the service on the church lawn. Memorial donations may be made to the Advent Christian Village P.O. Box 4305, Dowling Park, FL 32064.
