Omicron has not peaked here yet

Although the Omicron surge of COVID cases is continuing to explode around Florida and the nation, Taylor County has not yet seen the peak of the surge, although reported cases are also on the rise here.

According to the latest report from the Florida Department of Health (DOH), there were 46 cases reported in Taylor County during the seven-day period ending Thursday, Dec. 30 — nearly triple the 16 cases reported the week before.

CORRECTION:

The above story about the Omicron COVID surge incorrectly stated there had been 46 cases reported during the seven-day period ending Thursday, Dec. 30. There were actually 106 positive cases of COVID reported locally that week – nearly seven times more than the 16 cases reported the week ending Dec. 23. During the same period, 46 people were vaccinated.
