William Sherley “Bill” Hargesheimer

William Sherley “Bill” Hargesheimer was born on Oct. 31, 1937, in Louisville, Ky., to Clyde Hargesheimer and Ida Watkins Hargesheimer.

He was born premature, and the future was unsure back then, but God had great plans for my dad, Bill. He lived and thrived.

Bill graduated from Valley High School in Louisville, where he met the love of his life, Martha.

Dad was a brilliant mechanic even then and had souped up cars and was extremely handsome, like James Dean. He and Mom were high school sweethearts that found their way back to each other after high school, got married and created a wonderful family and life together.

My dad, Bill was first and foremost a Christian and loved the Lord.

Secondly, by all accounts he was a true German-American. He was going to do things his way and most of the time that was a very good thing!

He was a highly-skilled body man for many years before moving to Keaton Beach and taking over the Keaton Beach Hot Dog Stand, where he and my mom became important members of the local community. They took feeding people good food at affordable prices very seriously.

Dad would also fry the fresh fish customers would bring in. Even though it would mess up the fry oil, Dad knew people loved eating their own fresh caught fish.

He delighted in trout fishing as much as possible and feeding his pet pelican, who followed him around for the fish scraps.

They retired from the Hot Dog Stand in 2001 and were greatly missed there.

Dad was also a skilled builder and built the Keaton Beach Restaurant back after the storm of 1993, his beach house next door, and the two geodesic domes at Keaton Beach.

Dad had an amazing mind to figure out any problem with a machine or to building any structure. Mom and Dad loved to help with any repairs to the church building in Perry or to the preacher’s home next door to the church. He and Mom were always there to help anyone who needed them.

Bill and Martha, my parents, were longtime members of Spring Warrior Church of Christ in Perry. Two years ago, they joined the Monticello Church of Christ, where they are so very loved and cared for.

My dad Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Martha Eloise Hargesheimer, and daughters, Marlinda Bullock (me) and Shirley Linton (husband, Stanley).

Dad was greatly loved by his family, and friends, his church families, and his favorite dog ‘Lil Bit.

Bill passed away at the young age of 84 on Jan. 13, 2022. We love and miss you Dad so much but know that you are with Christ in Heaven above and we can’t wait to see you again soon.
