Fire destroys Main St. home

For several tense moments Wednesday, police officers were faced with the terrifying possibility that several children could be trapped inside a Main Street home totally engulfed in flames, even as firefighters feverishly fought the blaze threatening several adjacent structures.

One grief-stricken parent arrived at the scene and sobbed while sharing a hug in the pouring rain, as the sound of explosions from inside the towering inferno mixed with the crackling of burning bark and pine needles on trees in the front yard.
