Community Day of Remembrance planned May 13

Plans are underway for a COVID-19 Day of Remembrance ceremony set Friday, May 13, at Rosehead Park from 6-8 p.m.

Perry City Councilwoman Shirlie Hampton is taking the lead on the free event, which will feature “reflections, music, food and more.”

“Join us for an evening of remembrance. We will also celebrate our entire community working together and persevering. We will remember the lives lost and honor the sacrifices made by healthcare workers, first responders and essential workers,” Hampton said.

“We will also acknowledge the survivors and long haulers, and – most importantly – provide a message of unity and hope to our community,” she said.
