City may change public comment policy

The city council may consider making some changes to its policy on how and when the public can comment at city meetings, after receiving an opinion and list of suggestions from City Attorney Ray Curtis during a May 24 meeting.

“So, it probably surprised you to read in the newspaper that the council had shifted its policy on public comment, even though you did not vote on it and did not discuss a change in policy. It sounds like one interaction with one member of the public was reported as being a change in policy,” Curtis began.
