O’Steen guilty

A jury found Dixie County attorney Michael O’Steen guilty of two of four charges filed against him on Wednesday – extortion and failing to report a cash transaction of more than $10,000 – after he was implicated in the federal fraud case against former Third Judicial Circuit State Attorney Jeff Siegmeister.

Jury selection in O’Steen’s trial began on Friday, June 3. Testimony began Monday, June 6, and continued through the first part of this week. The jury deliberated for four hours before returning a verdict.
