    James Alton Thomley

    James Alton Thomley, 80, passed away on June 17, 2022, in Tallahassee.

    He was born Feb. 24, 1942, in Port St. Joe to Carlton Thomley and Lela Mae Cooper Thomley.

    James was of the Protestant faith and retired from the county after 15 years of service.

    He was an avid outdoorsman. Hunting, fishing and watching westerns with his family were his passions.

    James was preceded in death by: his parents, Carlton Thomley and Lela Mae Cooper Thomley; his wife of 46 years, Virgie Thomley; three brothers; and three sisters.

    He is survived by: his five sons, James “K.C.” Thomley and his wife, Susan, Shelton Lynn Witcher, Jack O. Alday, Phillip A. Alday and Ronald D. Alday; four daughters, Anita Alday, Amy and her husband, Lewis Pollock, Christine and Cynthia; and eight sisters, Carolyn, Sharon, Linda, Brenda, Ellen, JoAnn, Shirley and Becky; as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

    Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday) at 10 a.m. at Joe P. Burns Funeral Home with Brother Dennis Nobles officiating. Interment services will follow in Pineview Memorial Cemetery. The family received friends on Tuesday June 21, from 5-8 p.m.
