After a rough weekend that involved “extreme pain” and an additional surgery to drain a hematoma, 17-year-old shark bite survivor Addison Bethea bounced back strong on Monday, having her “best day” since the June 30 shark attack off the Keaton Beach coast, according to her mom, Michelle.
The same day she received an encouraging personal video message from Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, Bethea (pictured with her dad, Shane) ventured outside the hospital for the first time since her partial leg amputation, visiting the gift shop, grabbing some sushi from the cafeteria and posing for photos with her favorite nurses and physical therapist.
