The Taylor County Commission approved a new 10-year lease agreement Monday with the Doctors’ Memorial Hospital (DMH) Board of Directors for the continued operation of the hospital.
During previous discussions, the most controversial clause of the new lease gave the hospital board the authority to partner or participate with a regional health care system which in turn would have the ability to appoint up to two members to the DMH board. Although it was slightly reworded in the latest version of the lease, the authority remains, but new language was added which allows that “any individual member of the board of county commissioners shall have the right to review any partnership agreement between DMH and another partnering healthcare organization upon request of the county administrator.”
