State to seek death penalty in Phelps’ murder case

The parents of murder victim Patricia Knight waited more than two hours to witness a five-minute court appearance by her accused killer, Lloyd Phelps, during pre-trial hearings held Thursday, Feb. 21, before Circuit Judge Greg Parker.

In that brief time span, the state attorney’s office confirmed it would be seeking the death penalty for Phelps and Judge Parker granted the defense’s motion for a continuance.
