Troy Lee Register

Troy Lee Register, 79, passed away Feb. 10, 2023 at HCA Orange Park Medical Center. He was born March 22, 1943, to Freddy Lee Register and Martha Gilbert Register White in Homerville, Ga. He had been a resident of Perry since moving from Virginia in 1971. He worked for the local telephone company from 1971 until his retirement in 2007. Troy enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends. He was preceded in death by: his parents; stepfather, Charlie White; his son, Lee Register; his brother, Ray Register; and son-in-law, Chris Norman. He is survived by: his wife of 40 years; Gaye Carlton Register; two daughters, Alma (Rick) Pagels of Fortson, Ga., and Karen Norman of Fortson, Ga.; three grandchildren, Megan (Rusty) Duke and Lucas and Derek Higgenbotham; three greatgrandchildren, Landyn, Aidyn and Grayson Duke; and two nephews, Lamar and Garrett Register; as well as all of his sisters and brothers-in-law whom he truly loved as his own. On Tuesday, Feb. 14, the family received friends for visitation at 1 p.m., followed by a celebration of Troy’s life at 2 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home in Perry. “The world is diminished because he is gone. But it is still a better place because he was here.”
