Mr. Carter Lee Stanley, 75, passed away on June 23, 2023, at his home in Perry.

He was born Sept. 29, 1947, in Bristol, Va., to bluegrass legend Carter Glen Stanley and Mary Kiser Stanley.

Carter loved to hunt and play golf. He honorably served his country in the United States Air Force.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carter and Mary Stanley.

He is survived by: his wife, Susie Stanley; three children, Carla Leggett (Shawn), Chase Stanley and Amy Fissell; brother, Bill Stanley (Joan); sister, Doris Bradley (Ed); brother, Bobby Stanley (Sue) and Jeanie Stanley Allinder (Davey); three grandchildren, Bailey, Derek and Emma; and one great-grandson, Conner; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held on Monday, June 26, at 11 a.m. at Burns Funeral Home of Perry with the Rev. Gary French officiating. The family received friends one hour prior to the service.
