Kinks Evans, who rode out Hurricane Idalia with her partner Dave Jensen on a 65-foot boat moored in Deadman’s Bay near Steinhatchee, is shown peering out a hatch in their smaller 31-foot Sea Ray (above), which floated down river when the dock where it was moored was destroyed during the hurricane.

Inky darkness surrounded the two-story boat anchored in the Steinhatchee River not far from where the mouth empties into Deadman’s Bay.
