    Mark Scott Howell

    Mark Scott Howell, 65, of Bay City, Texas, passed away on Nov. 15, 2023. Scotty was born to Autry Wayne and Willie Jo Howell on March 24, 1958, in Perry, Fla. He married Davine Summers in Bay City on Aug. 16, 2014, after three years of dating. He was previously married to Dottie Jack Howell from Jan. 23, 1977, to Oct. 5, 2005. Scotty proudly served in the United States Navy from Nov. 1, 1976, until June 20, 1982, in Pensacola. He worked for 32 years at STP Nuclear Operating Company as a licensed operator and as an SRO instructor where he cultivated many friendships. Scotty enjoyed performing in community theater plays, scuba diving, hunting and fishing, and generally loved the outdoors. He was a great lover of animals and cared for 15 cats. He loved Sci-Fi and animated movies. Scotty was known to most friends and coworkers to always have a smile on his face and was always willing to help someone get back on his feet. He loved his family very much and wished he could have spent more time with them. Scotty is preceded in death by: his daughter, Melissa Johnson; former son-in-law, Charles Johnson; and mother, Willie Jo Van Norman. Scotty is survived by: his wife, Davine Howell; daughter, Michelle (Devlin) Jefferson; daughter, Miranda (Travis) Ross; son, Nathan (Kaley) Howell; stepson, Joshua Summers; father, Wayne (Linda) Howell; brother, Randy (Sue) Howell; brother, Mickey Howell; brother, Wesley (Lupe) Howell; sister, Sherry (Steve) Foster; grandchildren, Cole, Carter and Chloe Jefferson, Ashton, Landon and Paytyn Johnson, Aiden and Jackson Hartwell, Beau Ross, Nolan and Knox Howell, and Shelby and Chloe Summers and Landon Boykin; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial service to be held on Friday, Jan. 5, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Cedar Lane Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerl Watkins officiating. Cedar Lane Baptist Church is located at 12586 Fm 457, Bay City, TX 77414. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Houston Texas or your local SPCA.
