    Officials hopeful marsh cleanup can start soon

    Personal belongings, pieces of homes and entire structures litter miles of marsh along the Taylor County coast after Hurricane Helene. While federal officials are seeking a legal opinion on whether the government can remove debris from private property, County Administrator LaWanda Pemberton has pledged to continue to work behind the scenes lobbying state and federal officials until the marsh, roadsides and waterways are free of debris.

    Six weeks after Hurricane Helene’s devastating landfall in Taylor County, state-funded debris removal efforts are continuing along the county’s roadways and waterways.
