    Deputy uses PIT maneuver to end chase

    Monday after TCSO Inv. Jordan Thigpen executed a “PIT” maneuver to stop a high-speed chase of a van traveling the wrong way (northbound in the southbound lane) of US Hwy. 19. Ronald Nelson Armstrong was arrested and transported to the hospital, and later had to be Tased after removing his hand restraints, battering a deputy and attempting to flee once he escaped the police cruiser on the side of the road in Tallahassee.

    After being taken into custody by a “PIT” maneuver crash executed by a Taylor County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) deputy that ended a high-speed chase through Monday morning traffic on Highway 19, a local man battered a law enforcement officer and grabbed his Taser during an escape attempt while being transported to jail from a Tallahassee hospital.
