Ralph Dean Grubbs, 80, of Terrell County, formerly of Lee County, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2024, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Ga. A memorial service will be held Thursday, Jan. 2, at 11 a.m. at Sherwood Baptist Church. The Rev. Garrett Grubbs and Ross Powell will officiate. An interment service will follow Friday, Jan. 3, at 11 a.m. at Pisgah Church Cemetery in Perry for close family and friends. Ralph was born in Perry. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the reserves and faithfully served in the Army National Guard before earning an associate degree in forestry from the University of Florida. In 1971, he moved to Albany, where he lived until retiring from Procter & Gamble. In 2005, he and his beloved wife, Teresa, relocated to Steinhatchee, cherishing their retirement years surrounded by the beauty of the Gulf Coast. In 2018, they returned to Albany to be closer to family. Ralph was a devoted member of Sherwood Baptist Church. A loving husband, father and grandfather, Ralph was also a passionate outdoorsman. He spent much of his life immersed in nature – hunting, fishing and marveling at its beauty. With a background in forestry, he possessed a remarkable knowledge of the land and a deep appreciation for trees and wildlife. When not outdoors, he found joy in tending his garden, reading, watching Gunsmoke or cheering on his favorite football teams. Ralph was preceded in death by: his parents, Lanzy and Velma Grubbs; his son, Austin Grubbs; his grandson, Gabe Grubbs; and his sister, Pauline Fleming. He is survived by: his devoted wife of 42 years, Teresa Glow Grubbs; his children, Dean Grubbs, Suzanne Moss (Stephen), Derek Grubbs and Garrett Grubbs (Traci); daughterin-law, Melissa Grubbs; his grandchildren, Samuel Grubbs, Emily Grubbs, Caleb Grubbs, Chaney Grubbs, Dee Dee Crawford, and Alice Danielle Shannon; his sister, Geraldine Cribbs; his cousin and lifelong friend, James Strickland; his mother-in-law, Lucille Glow; his brothers-in-law, Larry Glow (Leah) and Mark Glow (Debbie); and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members who will forever hold him in their hearts. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Atrium at Sherwood Baptist Church. In lieu of f lowers, memorial donations may be made to The Lord’s Pantry, P.O. Box 70116, Albany, GA 31708, a ministry that held a special place in Ralph’s heart.
