Steinhatchee Community Trash Clean-Up day slated for Jan. 26

    Posted on January 17, 2025

The American Legion Post 291 in Steinhatchee is partnering with local businesses to host a “Community Trash Clean-Up” day in Steinhatchee on Sunday, Jan. 26.

“Join us in helping bring back beauty and life to our community,” American Legion Post 291 officials said.

The event will begin at 9 a.m. and continue until 5 p.m.

Pop’s Sanitation is donating three dumpsters for those participating to use for bagged trash.

The dumpsters will be available for trash beginning on Saturday, Jan. 25 at Steinhatchee River Inn.

Those who can not participate on Sunday are invited to start cleaning the community early on Saturday and dump their bags of debris in the dumpsters.

“Feel free to be an early bird,” organizers said. “If Sunday clean-up is not possible for you, feel free to start cleaning up Steinhatchee on your own on Saturday. You may leave bags on the side of the road or inside the dumpsters donated by Pop’s at Steinhatchee River Inn.”

“Please DO NOT bring yard debris. Please DO NOT bring large objects,” organizers asked.

“If you are cleaning up, please make separate piles for yard debris (vegetation) and housing debris,” organizers urged.

“Bag up all small items. If it is not possible for you to carry the bags to the dumpsters, we will have people driving around with trash trailers picking up bags on Sunday,” organizers added.
