Johnny Lee Carter Sr., 75, died Jan. 19, 2025, at Shands Hospital in Gainesville.
He was born Aug. 19, 1949, and lived in Taylor county his whole life.
His very first job was at Mims Power Center which he talked about often. Then, he moved to Sportscraft where he loved the work and fell in love with boats.
He retired from Procter & Gamble (P&G) after working 35 years there.
Johnny was preceded in death by: his father, A.C. Carter; his mother, Rosa Lee Baxter; brother, Robert Lee Carter; and sisters, Betty Jean Carter and Ruthy Ann Carter, all of Perry; as well as two sisters who died in infancy.
He lost his infant daughter, Wendy Delaine Carter, in 1974. His grandson, Brian Lee Livingston, passed away in 2012.
Johnny is survived by: his wife of 33 years, Lily Carter of Perry; along with his sisters and brothers, Mary Rudrford, John Carter, Elouise Carter, James Carter, Billy (Rita) Carter, Marie Hays, Daniel Carter,William (Mary) Carter and Wayne (Kelly) Carter, all of Perry.
He was also survived by his children, Johnny Carter Jr. from Perry, Cliff Coker from Marianna, Vonda (John) Owens from Thomasville, Ga., Ginger (Gary) Livingston from Perry and Belinda Coker from Perry.
He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, who he adored with all his heart.
Johnny also had a host of nieces and nephews he cherished with all his heart.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Jan. 24, at 11 a.m. at Joe P. Burns Funeral Home with Brother Billy Gipson officiating. Interment will follow at Pisgah Cemetery.
Family will receive friends Thursday, Jan. 23, from 6-8 p.m.
