Samuel Coley Jones, 77, passed away on Feb. 1, 2025, in Tallahassee after an extended illness.
He was born to Loomus Jones and Clydie Jones in Shady Grove.
Samuel married Samantha Inman Jones of Valdosta, Ga.
He was a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church and the VFW National Reserved Officers Association. He served with the U.S. Army for 24 years during the Vietnam and Desert Storm Wars.
He was also a member of the American Legion Post 0013 and the Perry Masonic Lodge #123.
Sammy’s hobbies included fishing, hunting, working in the yard, playing with his dogs and staying busy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Loomus and Clydie Jones, and his brother, Albert Loomus Jones.
Samual is survived by: his wife of 30 years, Samatha Jones; his daughter, Shavarea Inman Jones; his three sisters, Patricia Ann Linhardt, Mildred Elizabeth Adams and Linda Lee Adams; and a host of nieces, nephews and military family members.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Feb. 6, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church with Pastor West Adams officiating. Visitation will be held one hour before service, with military honors at the cemetery.
Burns Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
