    Betty J. Mauldin, 71, passed away in Tallahassee Memorial Hospital on Jan. 26, 2025.

    She was born in De Kalb, Texas, on Nov. 3, 1953, to her parents, Sherman Gaulden and Evelyn Woodard.

    She moved to Georgia and met Tommy, her husband. Both retired and moved to Perry, living at Cedar Island.

    She attended Macon College in Georgia and worked for R. J. Reynolds Tobacco as a lab technician and quality control.

    She also was a member of Blue Creek Baptist Church, Sandy Toes Red Hat Ladies and an associate member of the Perry Elks Lodge #1851.

    Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Sherman Gaulden and Evelyn Woodard, and her grandparents, Dillard and Velma Mae Woodard.

    She is survived by: her husband, Tommy Mauldin; her son, Bill Mauldin; her sister, Linda Gaulden; and her grandchildren, Katelyn and Carson Mauldin, as well as several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, along with a host of nieces and nephews.

    A memorial service honoring Mrs. Betty will be held Thursday, Feb. 6, 2025, at 3 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home Chapel of Perry with Justin Goins officiating
