Lamar Eugene Carmichael Sr., 85, passed away on February 22, 2025. Lamar was born on February 19, 1940, in Lakeland FL., to Willard P. And Evelyn (Brown) Carmichael.
Lamar was a 1958 graduate of Taylor County High School, growing up he worked on the family farm in Day Town, after high school he enlisted in the Army where he served as an MP “Military Police” during the Korean War, after serving in the United States Army, he moved to Mulberry, FL. where he used his GI bill money to pay for Barbers💈college, and started working in the phosphate mines in the Chemical and Industrial Painting Industry, he also worked part time as a barber. While on a job in Lakeland, he meets his future wife Marilyn, after they married, they opened Carmichael’s Paint and Carpet Supply in 1976 in Lakeland, after selling the business they moved back to Taylor County, where he was employed with the Taylor County Sheriff’s Department as a Deputy Sheriff until retirement.
He was preceded in death by his parents Willard P. and Evelyn Carmichael, his sister, Gail Bowden of Lexington South Carolina, sister, Paula Parker, and a brother, Richard Carmichael both of Steinhatchee, FL.
Lamar is survived by his wife of 50 years Marilyn Carmichael; his daughter, Brenda Baumgardner (Sam); son, Scott Brady, son, Lamar Eugene (Mark) Carmichael Jr., grandchildren; Joshua Keen (Lori), Jacob Brannan, Leah Brannan, and Trinady Carmichael, great-grandchildren; Lucas Brannan and Violet Carmichael; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of life service for Lamar E. Carmichael Sr. will be held at Joe P. Burns funeral home in Perry, FL., with brother Billy Gipson officiating on Saturday March 1st, 2025. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, with services beginning at 11:00 am.
