Royce Thompson

Royce Thompson, 89, passed away on Jan. 21, 2025.

He was born in Foley to Royce Thompson Sr. and Jewel Thompson.

He worked at Buckeye Cellulose and Procter & Gamble for nearly 43 years where he was the Senior Lab Analyst.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church. He served on the Trustee committee, Administrative Board and several cooking committees. He also helped with keeping the yard mowed. He loved putting out the cross for Lent.

In his spare time he enjoyed gardening and working in his yard. He loved sharing the vegetables he grew in his garden.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, Royce and Jewel Thompson; his wife, Carol Thompson; his daughter, Toni Blume-Thompson; and his son, John Thompson.

He is survived by: two daughters, Kristi Harrell (Steve) and Allison Ritter (Lou); granddaughters, Morgan Ryder, Lindsey (Trent) Morgan and Karaline Harrell; granddog, Elliott Ritter; nieces, Estella Byrd and Eleanor Story; two brothers, Terry (Cheryl) and Eddie (Carol) Thompson; and one sister, Anita Alvey .

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 5, at 1 p.m. at First United Church Memorial Hall in Perry with the Rev. James Taylor and Kent Thompson officiating. Interment services will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to First United Methodist Church.
