    Boat ramp dock repairs to begin soon

    More than 40 aluminum docks damaged during Hurricane Helene currently fill the Taylor County Road Department work yard as the county prepares to issue a “notice to proceed” to one or both companies that submitted quotes (ranging from $763,000 to over $1 million) to repair or replace 56 docks, 13 gangway/walkways, drive down new support pilings and conduct seawall repairs at four boat ramp locations in Keaton Beach, Steinhatchee and Dark Island.

    More than six months after Hurricane Helene damaged docks and walkways at several county public boat ramps, county officials are preparing to issue a “notice to proceed” on the much-anticipated repair work — despite receiving price quotes ranging from $763,000 up to more than $1 million.
