Descendents of county pioneers to gather to celebrate family, history

History can seem far away when you’re talking about things that happened back in 1816.

Or, it could be as close as the man you call “Grandpa.”

Lydia Hendry Andrews holds a portrait of her mother and father, Auley and Arie Hendry. Auley was the youngest son of Hendry patriarch Robert M. Hendry, and Lydia was her father’s youngest child. At 95, she is the only living grandchild of Robert M. Hendry, and her family will serve as hosts for this Sunday’s 158th annual Hendry Family Reunion.

That’s the case for Lydia Ann Hendry Andrews.
