‘Garden Gala Day’ slated May 10

    Posted on May 9, 2025

Taylor County Master Gardener volunteers will host their third “Garden Gala Day” this Saturday, May 10, at Forest Capital Park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“We will be working alongside the Hurricane Preparedness Event and Master Gardener volunteers will be on hand to answer your questions about hurricane-proofing your yards,” volunteer Amanda Beckett said.

“Our regular program on watering and fertilizing will be covered by handouts. Available plants will include sweet potatoes, summer squash, peppers and Nasturtiums, along with various perennials and native trees, all on sale for $3 or $5. In the pepper selection, we have a handful of the super hot Capsicum Chinese cultivars: Hurt Berry, Ghost, BTR Scorpion, Wicked Ghost and Scotch Bonnet,” she said.

Free okra and pumpkin seeds will also be given away.

“In addition, we will have painted key holders and water barrels, birdhouse boxes and crocheted items,” Beckett said.
