    LeRoy Wymon Bishop Sr.

    LeRoy Wymon Bishop Sr. from Salem went home to be with his Lord and Savior on June 24, 2025, at the age of 86.

    He was born Sept. 10, 1938, in Tampa to Marion and Roxie Bishop.

    He was a member of Risen Hope Baptist Church in Summerville, S.C.

    He was a proud Army veteran and loved his Florida Gators.

    He worked as a lineman for 26 years with Tri-County Electric, before taking his knowledge on the road to work.

    He was a member in the National Electrical Brotherhood and Local 222.

    He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and watching his Gators and old westerns, as well as his church and singing.

    He truly was our gentle giant.

    LeRoy was proceeded in death by: his best friend and loving wife of 47 years, June Green Bishop; his parents; three brothers; and four sisters.

    He is survived by: his son, Wymon Bishop of Perry; daughters, LeAnna Richardson and son-in-law, Clayton of Summerville, S.C., and Kimberly Cooper, also of Summerville; two grandsons who he cherished, Cade Chester of Summerville and Tyler Cooper and wife, Ashley, of St. George, S.C.; two granddaughters, Heidi Chester and Savannah DuVall and husband, Paul, of Cross, S.C.; and five great-grandchildren: Caden Schweiger, Jada Schweiger, Trinity Chester, Zachary DuVall and Bentley Cooper; as well as nieces and nephews.

    A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, July 12, at 10 a.m. at his hometown church, Salem Missionary Baptist Church, with Brother Marc Pargo officiating. Interment will follow at the Woodyard Cemetery.

    In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to his hometown church, Salem Missionary Baptist Church, in Salem.
