Padgett vows to take budget to DeSantis

Taylor County Sheriff Wayne Padgett has said he will bypass county commissioners and instead seek approval from Gov. Ron DeSantis in an ongoing dispute over his $9.4 million budget request – which includes a $186,000 increase in the 2025-26 fiscal year.
