Ellis Harper Dosher Sr. of Steinhatchee was born Sept. 18, 1930, in Virginia Beach, Va., to William Asa Dosher Sr. and Blanche Lydia Lee Dosher. He passed from this life at 94 years on July 10, 2025, at home in Steinhatchee. Ellis graduated from Manatee County High School in Bradenton. He went on to graduate from Kings Point Merchant Marine Academy with a bachelor of science degree. He was an officer in the Navy for two years, and after his discharge, went to work for and Dosher Construction), commercial fisherman and creator and owner of D’s Smoked Fish Spread. He was a student of karate and won many awards and trophies. He loved to read, especially Louis L’Amour western novels. Lykes Brothers Steamship Company. It was while working for Lykes Brothers that he met his future wife, Patricia Ann Courter, a college student at Florida State University. Patricia worked with his mother, Blanche, at Belk Lindsey Department store in Bradenton, and Blanche was instrumental in their meeting. In 1957, Patricia and Ellis were married. He was a Christian and active member of Church of Christ churches in Florida and Tennessee until the last few years of his life. Ellis was quite the entrepreneur! He was a master electrician, building contractor (Dosher Electric He leaves behind his wife, Patricia; five sons, Ellis H. Dosher Jr. (AnnMarie), David, Paul (Tammie), James (Sherri) and Daniel; seven grandsons; 11 granddaughters; eight great-grandsons; and three great-daughters. There will be a memorial service for him Saturday, Sept. 20, at Steinhatchee Community Center (time to be announced).
