Sheila Diane Russell

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sheila Diane Russell, who left us peacefully on July 27, 2025, at the age of 62. Born on Feb. 6, 1963, in Gainesville, she lived in Perry and was a graduate of Taylor County High School. Sheila worked for several years as a waitress at both Pouncey’s and Difon’s restaurants. She was known for her love of fishing, fish fries and playing cards. She also loved her dogs – she referred to as her fur babies–especially “Polly.” She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil Honeycutt and Virgie Ellison. Sheila is survived by: her loving spouse, Ricky Russell; her step-father, Danny Ellison, both of Perry; her son, Michael Stephens of West Palm; a sister, Dannielle Welch, and husband, Scott, of Perry, and Dana Wasdin, and husband, David, of Blackshear, Ga.; and a brother, Henry Ellison of Perry; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 31, at 11 a.m. at Burns Funeral Home of Perry, with Brother Ben Kimmel officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. All arrangements are under the care of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
