12th annual event planned Aug. 2 at Loughridge Park

Theresa Britt will host her 12th annual “Back to School” celebration and school supplies giveaway Saturday, Aug. 2, at Loughridge Park, starting at 10 a.m.

“We will have a water slide, bounce house, fire truck display, face painting and more, along with special guest Smokey Bear,” Britt said.

“When the City of Perry Fire Department comes with the fire engine, the kids light up. When the ‘Big Bus’ comes with books, the kids are presented with an opportunity to explore the world through reading, and when the sheriff comes to cook on the grill, a sense of pride is displayed. When everyone comes together to celebrate our kids, it creates a supportive community,” she said.

Sponsorships are welcome, as well as donations of school supplies.
