Mt. Gilead celebrates 175 years of tradition

Minnie Gossman, who was Mt. Gilead Baptist Church’s oldest member at age 99 in 1985, painted this picture of the “old” church when she was 88 years old.

Nestled off a dusty dirt road under towering live oaks, the wood frame country church welcomed visitors through two tall twin doors.
