Commission seeks way to curb ‘abuse’ of roll-off sites by contractors, city residents

The Harrison Blue roll-off site (shown above) is one of nine roll-off sites located around the county. Use of the sites are supposed to be limited to residents who live outside the City of Perry limits and pay the $178 solid waste assessment and have received a decal sticker or a card (or both) to show attendants. However, county officials say many city residents and commercial contractors are regularly dumping waste as well. The Taylor County Commission is expected to resume discussion on solid waste operations at its next workshop on Tuesday, Oct. 28.
The Taylor County Commission continues to look for ways to cut down on what officials are calling “abuses” of the county’s solid waste roll-off site system.
